Fashion-Forward Transitional Pieces

August is that time of year when we're stuck in summer, but ready for fall. People are starting to get tired of the heat each day, and ready to dream of bonfires and sweaters at night.

As brands are releasing their 2018 fall lineups, it's easy to see new fall pieces and wish it was chilly enough to wear them!

While this isn't quite the time yet for wool coats and furry boots, we can still borrow fashion-forward pieces from fall fashion throughout the end of summer.

The key is choosing transitional pieces - layer them on or layer them off, tie them around your waist or around your shoulders, pair them with lightweight skirts or dark wash jeans.

So here's your guide to fall pieces you can start to incorporate into your wardrobe as of right now, sunny heat and all.

Slip-on shoes are a great piece to transition from summer to fall. They work great with shorts, casual skirts, and transition to going with leggings and jeans. This particular Sorel pair is a great option because they're mustard - one of this fall's trendiest colors.

Choosing a trendy handbag is another great way to get ahead on the newest fashion trends and staying comfortable in whatever weather is going on.

Layered basics are another great option for this time of year. The weather is anything but consistent during the next couple months! From cold mornings to chilly AC to hot afternoons to cool evenings, layering is key.

Choose a basic tank or tee in a trendy color like dusty purple and layer a lightweight sweater or cardigan over top. And matching wedges never hurt.

Tunic tops are perfect for this time of the year. They work great as dresses on hot days or at the beach, or layer over denims or leggings as the weather cools off. This striped print is definitely on trend this season, too. Pair it with sandals or wedges for an effortless look.

While buying thick sweaters you can't wear till November might not be a great way to participate in fall fashion, there are definitely ways to get ahead of the trend!

Choosing colors and accessories that are on trend for fall or layering new pieces for unpredictable weather are always great ways to get ready for fall fashion.
